Michelle and Jack , Directors of Public Relations and Adoption counselors

Shortly after Jack and I (Michelle) got married in 2004, we decided that we had the time and energy to devote to a dog, so we headed to the shelter.  We made the rounds twice to meet all the barking dogs trying to get our attention, and on the way out saw a little fawn and white girl dancing quietly in her cage waiting to be noticed.  I had never even thought of getting a pit bull, but Jack had experience with the breed and she just won us over.  She was left behind when her owner was arrested and had just had puppies.  She came home with us for a "trial" week and never left.

Having Cali taught us much more about the breed than we ever thought we would need to know.  We learned that people are either afraid or ask lots of questions when they hear you own a pit bull, which forced us to research, research, research to answer their questions.

This past October we decided Cali needed a brother, which is how we met the volunteers at PittieLove.  Manny was rescued with his sister in Lynn, MA weighing only a few pounds and in terrible shape.  They took wonderful care of him and adopted him off to us at 13 pounds and healthy as could be!  He's now Cali's best friend, and just a joy to have around.

We have long since decided that pit bulls are the dogs for us, they give so much love and are such wonderful companions.  It makes us so happy that through PittieLove we can help other pit bulls find forever homes just as our dogs did!  It is a wonderful breed that doesn't deserve to be discriminated against, and the more people we prove that to, the happier we are.
