Mary, Adoption Counselor/On Break

My family and I got our first dog, Pepper when I was three years old. We adopted him from a Springfield Pound as a puppy. He was a Lab/Dalmation mix. The next day my grandparents went to the pound and adopted his brother.
From that point on, all of our family pets were rescues.
My first experience with a Pit Bull is when I was 22 years old. I was introduced to a friends Pit Bull puppy. From that point on, I knew when I was able to get a dog, it would be a Pit Bull. What an amazing breed!

A few years after that I agreed to puppy sit for my stepbrother's friends Pit Bull puppy.
Well......one night turned into a week before he even called to check on her. At that point I felt as though he did not deserve this beautiful pup and he agreed to let me keep her. I was living at home at the time and Mocha became my Mother's dog.

In 2000 I moved in with my future husband and we decided to adopt a Pit Bull.

After much searching we found Zoie, a 3 year old rescued Pit Bull listed on PBRC. When Sheila, her rescuer brought her to us, it was love at first site.

Since that time much has changed in my life, I now have two little girls, Veronica 4 and Ava 2. Having my kids made me love Zoie even more than I ever thought possible. Zoie has been so wonderful to my children since the day my first child was born.

I was considering adopting a second Pit Bull and got it touch with Noreen and PittieLove Rescue. It was after our long conversations that I realized I could do more for the breed by offering to be a foster Mom for a homeless Pit Bull.

The rest is history.

I am now the vice president and a foster Mom for our rescue.

I look forward to my volunteer work with PittieLove Rescue now and in the future, helping our rescued dogs find thier forever homes.
