Hi Noreen,
When my husband and I decided to adopt a pit bull, we knew we were in for a cuddly, loving companion.  However, we had no idea our little Skooter would turn into the dog of a lifetime.  We knew we were OK when he first arrived home and immediately found the couch to sleep on.  We later discovered he far prefers the couch when one (or even better, two or three) humans are there to snuggle with.  When he was just over 25 pounds, we didn't think too much of him curling up on our laps.  Now, topping the scale at almost 55 lbs, we still can't say no!  He's not all cuddles, though.  He will romp and play till he can't take it anymore.  He is a chewing machine.  Ropes are his favorites, but he's not THAT picky. Somehow he can always trick someone into playing with him.  Those big eyes and persistent personality are hard to resist!
He is our little clown.  He rarely jumps down from the couch, rather, he slowly sliiiiiiiiiides off it, usually landing in a heap on the floor.  He contorts himself into the weirdest sleeping positions.  On his back, all 4 legs straight up in the air, with his hind end in one direction, front end in another and head and neck twisted, with his legs sprawled out behind like a frog.  He looks so serene, but so utterly silly. When playful, he will slap the floor with his front paws as we jump up and down.  He runs and jumps onto his dog bed (on the hardwood floors) and goes careening around the room.  He brings such joy to life!
He's becoming very well traveled for such a young dog.  We've taken him sailing on the Atlantic (where he fared MUCH better than I did!), up to a cabin in the woods in Maine, to a doggy bed and breakfast in Vermont, and to numerous horse shows in the region.  Everywhere he went he was met with lots of attention and pets, and behaved fabulously (if a bit enthusiastic!! because everyone COULD be our friend!!).  Many who meet him are surprised he is a pit bull.  Those who know the breed, are never surprised!  However, I think one of our new friends summed up Skooter so well...she said "He just oozes positive energy!"
Whether curling up on the couch, playing tug of war, or exploring the area, our happy-go-lucky dog never fails to bring a smile to our faces.  We are so happy to have found him through PittieLove Rescue!!
