Happy New Beginnings

Katy was at a local animal control facility in December of 07. Dumped at the side of the road in the freezing cold, with nothing to keep her warm. :(
The ACO was in love with her and contacted PLR for help. She came to us with the worse case of Demodex mange we had ever seen.
Merry and Gary Young, the founders of Braveheart Pit Bill Rescue (and our dear friends) picked her up from animal control to bring her to PLR during our Holiday party.
We were all quite shocked at her condition but we ALL fell in LOVE! She was spoiled at our party. Noreen's niece and Mary's two young children took Katy under their wings. They kept her warm with blankets and she loved every minute of it!
Thanks to our fellow volunteers Michelle, Jack and their two rescued pit bulls, Cali and Manny for providing Katy with such a wonderful foster home.
And to Heidi, Z and Clyde for her forever home!!

Mayble was rescued by PLR in 07 from a MA shelter. She was actually on the news... Not for a good reason though...She was stolen from the shelter! Thankfully she was returned after much publicity.
She was fostered by Kelly and Matt.
Mayble went on a "trial adoption" with a nice family that had just lost their senior pit bull. Well... our '"pretty girl" was too much energy for this family so back she went to Kelly and Matt.
Then along came our friends Chris and Rickie. They lost their boy Wyatt and were looking to adopt another pit bull in need. They could never "replace" Wyatt but their hearts were open to rescue another bully doggie in need.
Our pretty girl (she loves it when you call her that!) was adopted by Chris and Rickie! YAY!

Cooper was found in MA city tied to a post. He was rescued by a woman and her daughter who agreed to foster him for PLR. A few months later, she brought him to a shelter. She could not handle another dog. Even though she and her best friend told us that Cooper was a much better dog than their lab mix.
It was quite a shock to PLR. We called Chris and Rickie as they had been in touch with us about the possibility of fostering or adopting a friend for Mayble.
Chris went to the shelter the same day and rescued Cooper!!! The poor boy...Had been through so much....
The rest is "good' history!
Two Happy New Beginnings for Mayble and Cooper!
Thank you Chris and Rickie!
Love and hugs from all at PLR!

We were contacted by a MA Control Officer who had Angie (now Aurora) past the required 10 day holding period. She was just too special not to help. She contacted us. Keith, one of our volunteers went out to the animal control facility to evaluate her and fell in love. We knew we had to save her. Since Liz and Peter were considering a second dog, we contact them. They agreed to foster Angie and then quickly decided that she was a "keeper'! :)

Winnie was rescued by a very caring MA Animal Control officer by the name Martylee.
Martylee goes above and beyond and is one of the most caring people we have ever met both with animals and people alike.
She found Winnie and Lucas wandering the streets, very very thin and in need of food and shelter.
Marylee contacted us about these two dogs and thankfully we were able to find foster homes for them both.
Winnie was fostered by Kelly Jean and her dog Sparky. Kelly and Sparky did a wonderful job caring for Winnie until her forever home was found.

Roly Poly (now Fenway) came to us from our friends at the MSPCA in Boston.
Our little man was not well cared for by whoever "owned" him prior to being given away...
He had a bad case of demodex mange.
Roly fostered by Kelly Jean. He was initially very shy when meeting other dogs on leash but Kelly quickly corrected that by much socialization.
He is now in his forever and obviously very loved!

Maxwell was found on the side of a busy highway in a MA city left to die in a crate. A couple stopped as they thought someone just dumped the crate. They were wrong. Inside was a terrified emaciated Pit Bull. They brought Maxwell to PLR. We had him neutered and fully vetted. This wonderful couple agreed to foster him until we were able to find him a home. Maxwell, although shy, did not have a mean bone in his tiny body. Something very terrible happened to him even prior to be left to die on the side of a highway.
The rest is behind him as he found a wonderful home!!!
