Duke was found as a stray by local animal control and has done nothing but flourish ever since being rescued. Duke is a happy go lucky kinda guy. He is eager to please and will shower you with kisses and snuggles. He has been around other dogs, males and females, children from varying ages of 2-8, and around tons of different people. He is currently being fostered in a loving home with an 8 year old female lab/shepherd mix. Duke is housebroken and has learned many commands. He will give paw, other paw, high 5, other high 5, sit, lay down, and go to bed. He is very food motivated and will do just about anything for a treat!! Duke is super playful and will fetch anything you throw for him. He is always looking to play tug of war but will drop what he’s got when told and sit and wait for the toy to be thrown again. He is constantly smiling and has a tail that goes a mile a minute. He enjoys wading through water and prances around in it. He does great with female dogs but tends to want to show he is the boss to male dogs at first. Although once he is around males long enough, he is great. He loves blankets and will pile blankets and dog beds on top of one another to get them as cushy as possible. He still has a little of the stray mentality so he will occasionally steal things and hoard them but doesn’t destroy. He will get sneaky and steal shoes if he feels lonely…although he doesn’t chew them but instead lays with them (very funny). He will let you know when someone is around as he loves new friends to play with. He has gotten much better at not jumping on people and is easier to calm when new people enter the house as he gets extremely excited to see new friends! He has a lot of energy and is steadily getting better at walking on leash. He needs a good amount of exercise and lots of love and attention. It would be good for him to find a home with someone who has a decent sized yard and is looking for a lifetime loyal companion and can devout the times he needs. He would do great at agility training and loves to hang from the rope toy that is tied to a tree as he can jump quite high. Duke is truly a joy to be around and exudes tons of personality. Whoever ends up adopting him will be very lucky...as they will have a pal for life. Come meet Duke!
